The Birth of ORANGE

Hey, it's Bill but they call me "The ORANGE Man" because I wear something orange every day (EXCEPT FOR HALLOWEEN) and I just wanted to thank you for stopping by and checking out my arrangements and original compositions. I won't bore you with my childhood, but will tell you I have loved orange for decades and loved music for even longer. I own over 980 albums, (after transferring much music to CD) over 500 cassettes and over 1300 CDs as of today.

My mom was the church pianist so that's where I got my love of music from. My first performance was accompanying my Sunday school choir on a song I arranged. I sang with the Blossom Festival and Cleveland Orchestra chorus and attended Cleveland State University where I got a legit (i.e. classical) training for a year before I moved on to the Berklee College of Music where I graduated.

I started and directed my own choir (the Orange Korale) and at one point we were in line to do the Star-Spangled Banner for the Super Bowl (back in the day where you didn't have to be a super star to do it). I also taught at CSUN (Cal State U at Northridge) and USC as well as directed the choir from where I was working which was Honda in Torrance, CA called the Sounds of Honda.

I have finally decided my style of a cappella needs more attention so that's what I'm doing now. If you decide to perform one of my arrangements, let me know (BillORANGELyons@musician.org) and maybe I can stop by for a rehearsal or better yet, hear the group perform. I would love to do that. And if I miss it, you can send me a copy of the performance.

Teaching is not easy in this day and age and I commend any of you that so diligently try. It takes a special calling. I was a sub for a while. (OUCH). It wasn't the best of experiences, so, I hope yours is much different...AND BETTER. Anyhow, if you have any questions with any of my charts, I'll be glad to entertain your questions by email or you can call me. Until then, MAKE SOME MUSIC!
